The important thing I learned while at SAE was the way music practitioners actually work in the music industry and how they seek their influences. I now understand the genealogy of music and how music has developed and been able to see a progression in genres/styles of music. Music Theory and understanding scale, harmony and composition has been invaluable to me.

I learned about blocks and how to break though when creativity becomes too hard and stops working for me. It is time to take a break or become experimental. Just walking away for a while will also work to clear the head. Collaboration and associations are also very important for creativity and professionally. It is necessary to collaborate to develop contacts, but it is also necessary to associated with other artists to help my own creativity along.

The biggest developments in my personal music would be the lessons I learned from lectures, the online resources and interviews watched when studying artists. This has taught me the skills I need to know (although still learning) to be effective in the music/sound design industry, as well as learning skills to develop my personal understanding of the software and techniques.
